The majority of NHCC accomplishments go
unnoticed except to those who are directly
affected by our deeds. Projects for our parish
are constantly ongoing with new ones being
added and completed almost on a monthly basis.
From major construction to minor repairs, from
long-term planning to emergency assistance. Our
membership makes up a talent pool that covers
all walks of life that includes doctors,
scientists, welders, masons, electoral workers,
gardeners, truck drivers and the list goes on
and on… Together, we offer our parish a
valuable resource that is dedicated to the
well-being of our parish community.
To mention just two of our initual
accomplishments:....
In 1997 the NHCC started their free pancake
breakfast for everyone in our parish as a means
for promoting fellowship and brotherhood
amongst parishioners. It was initially only
allowed to be held twice a year but wth the
arrival of Father Keahi in 1999 we were allowed
to increase this to a quarterly event. Father
Keahi also took this idea to the next step by
expanding it to encompass other major
organizations and we now refer to it as
"Hospitality Sunday". Everyone continues to
enjoy this function provided by all major
organizations on the first Sunday of each
month.
In 1998 the NHCC instigated our first Parish
Picnic. Initially funded and executed entirely
by the NHCC, this event brought together all
members of the parish for a day of games, food,
and fun. With increasing participation each
year, this idea has also taken root in our
parish and is now coordinated at the parish
level with support provided by other major
organizations
